Thema
My research addresses the question of belonging from the perspective of the racialised migrant. Specifically, it considers how identity and belonging may be conceptualised and practiced differently when movement—instead of territorial stasis—is given primacy. Combining critical phenomenological and literary anthropological methods, I use migrant narratives to frame belonging within a constellation of race, empire, neo-coloniality and decoloniality, im/mobility, corporeality, clandestinity, hybridity, and affect.
