Workshop „Ethics of Knowledge Production“, 2026

The workshop week at Europa-Universität Flensburg provided early-career researchers from the DFG Research Unit “Antigypsyism and Ambivalence in Europe (1850–1950)” with space for focused writing periods, independent work, and intensive discussions on the current progress of their projects and related challenges. The diverse programme, organized by Nele Feuring (Subproject 3, EUF) and Dr. Svea Taubert (Coordinator of the Research Unit), included, among other activities, a presentation by Dr. Sebastian Lotto-Kusche (EUF) on the study “Addressing the History of German Sinti and Roma in Schleswig-Holstein,” followed by a discussion, as well as a joint visit to the theatre production “Herbert” at Pilkentafel in Flensburg, followed by a discussion with the participants.
In addition, an intensive discussion was held on the research unit’s virtual research environment, particularly with regard to analytical categories and key concepts, as well as questions concerning collaborative work across the individual subprojects.
Quality assurance in early-career researcher development is an important component of the collaborative research project. It strengthens both individual project work and internal academic exchange and promotes interdisciplinary networking within the DFG Research Unit.
