Since the mid-1990s, Europa -Universität Flensburg has offered degree programs that intensively address issues of climate change, regenerative energy supply, and the shift towards a more sustainable society. In its research and teaching, the university works to develop innovative concepts for minimizing greenhouse gas emissions.
In co-founding the Flensburg Climate Pact (Klimapakt Flensburg e. V.), Europa-Universität Flensburg and the Flensburg University of Applied Science built at important bridge between academic research and local climate protection action. Europa-Universität Flensburg’s Climate Protection Management unit serves as a connecting hub for core transversal tasks in the fields of climate protection and sustainability.
Among its core tasks, Climate Protection Management initiates campus-related climate protection and sustainability projects, participates in sustainability networks, coordinates sustainability-related teaching, and develops a concept for ideas and innovation management.
The unit also handles energy management and energy-CO2 balance issues. From early on, it focused on promoting more sustainable mobility and has developed corresponding concrete measures for this.
