Description
The Spanish A1 language course is designed for learners with no prior knowledge of the language. It aims to provide the first basic skills in Spanish.
Through everyday conversation topics and situations (greetings and introductions, nationality and language, addresses and phone numbers, etc.), learners will gain foundational knowledge of Spanish grammar and vocabulary.
When working with vocabulary, we will mainly focus on the following topics: the Spanish alphabet, personal characteristics and hobbies, tourism and vacations, transportation and the seasons, colors, clothing, and everyday items.
Key grammar points covered in the course include: numbers, forms of subject pronouns, definite articles, demonstrative pronouns, nouns, gender and number, possessive pronouns, describing holiday habits, present tense (indicative), as well as direct and indirect object pronouns.
The course takes place for 4 SWS over the semester and is structured so that students will complete the A1 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages within one semester.
Regular and active participation is required to successfully complete the course. Doing homework is also necessary in order to practice and consolidate what has been learned.

The Spanish B1 course is designed for learners at an advanced beginner level. It builds on the A2 course.
Through everyday conversation topics and situations, learners will deepen and expand their knowledge of Spanish grammar and vocabulary. When working on vocabulary, we will mainly focus on the following topics: everyday conversations at work, at university, chats with friends, and more.
Key grammar points covered include: the use of the simple conditional and the present subjunctive; making predictions about different future scenarios and expressing wishes and requests; various uses of the past tense (in particular the preterite, imperfect, and pluperfect); more complex use of (in)direct and prepositional objects; employing paraphrases to achieve a more creative and versatile style; expressing tastes, feelings, preferences, values, and opinions, especially to draw contrasts; comparing and evaluating different objects; impersonal and involuntary forms; describing processes using the passive voice; as well as forming questions and indirect speech. Vocabulary will also be extended in the areas of culture, society, education, and economics.
The course takes place for 4 SWS during the semester and is structured so that participants can complete the B1 level according to the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR) within one semester.
Regular and active participation is required to successfully complete the course. Homework is also an essential part of the program in order to practice and reinforce what has been learned.

The B1.1 Spanish course is designed for participants with solid basic knowledge who have successfully completed the A2 course.
Course Content:
This course expands your foundational knowledge of Spanish through topics and situations taken from everyday conversations. You’ll practice skills such as understanding newspaper articles or radio broadcasts, taking notes during a presentation, or writing a post in an online discussion forum through role-playing exercises and debates.
Grammar topics will be reviewed, and both everyday and more specialized speaking situations will be practiced.

Sitzung 1: Einführung in die Interkulturelle Kommunikation
