Frequently asked questions

Course registration

The language courses of the Language Center are open exclusively to students and employees of the Europa-Universität Flensburg.

Registration for the language courses is only possible during the registration period and must be completed directly via the website. Registrations by email are not accepted.

A deregistration is only possible during the registration period.

Please note that successful participation in a language course also requires preparation and follow-up work outside of class. In your own interest, please only register for a course if you genuinely intend to learn the language and are prepared to invest the necessary time.

If you expect that you will not be able to attend the course, please inform us as soon as possible so that we can make your place available to someone else.

Places in the language courses are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

You will be informed by email if you have not received a place. This may happen, for example, if the course is already full or if you have not uploaded the required documents or proof of language proficiency.

Course format

The language courses offered by the Center for Languages generally take place in person on the campus of Europa-Universität Flensburg or in the Madrid building.

Our language courses thrive on active participation as well as on personal interaction and exchange between participants.

Information regarding the course format, language of instruction, assessments, and workload can be found in the respective course description.

Individual courses may take place online. Please refer to the respective course description for further information.

Participant numbers

Our courses have a minimum of three and a maximum of 18 participants.

Waiting lists are maintained for courses that are already full. Interested persons must contact the Center for Languages by email in order to be placed on the waiting list.

If places become available in a course, the next person on the waiting list will be informed by email. The place must then be accepted within the specified deadline; otherwise, it will be offered to the next person on the waiting list.

Feedback

If you are not satisfied with your course, feel free to contact us personally or by email at sprachen@uni-flensburg.de

You are welcome to contact us in person, by telephone, or by email. We are always happy to receive suggestions and feedback and are always interested in your opinion.

Course times and venues

The language courses generally take place in the evenings, as they are offered alongside the regular lectures and seminars at Europa-Universität Flensburg. In order to enable as many students and university staff members as possible to participate in the language courses, most courses are scheduled for the late afternoon or early evening.

If participants are unable to attend their desired course due to scheduling reasons, they may switch to another course of the same or a different language, provided that places are still available.

No. In most languages, the levels are only offered once per year.

The language courses offered by the Center for Languages take place both in the facilities of Europa-Universität Flensburg on campus and in the rooms of the “Munketoft branch office” (address: Building MADRID, Munketoft 3b, 24937 Flensburg). You can always find the room numbers on the website under the respective course information.

A campus map can be found here.

Certificates of Achievement

Certificates of achievement are only issued for courses that conclude with an assessed component (e.g. written examination, oral examination, or portfolio).

The certificates are prepared after the end of the course and sent to you as an email attachment. Please note that the preparation process may take up to eight weeks.

No certificates of achievement are issued for language courses without an assessed component.

Please refer to the respective course description for the requirements for obtaining a certificate of achievement.

Placement test

You are required to take the placement test if you wish to register for a course from level A1.2 upwards and have neither successfully completed an examination at the Center for Languages nor possess an official language certificate that is no more than two years old.
