The SEDev M.Eng. Programme in Brief

Degree:Master of Engineering in Sustainable Energy and Development (SEDev)
In Brief: An interdisciplinary M.Eng. programme for energy professionals with an interest in international cooperation and the global energy transition. Combining engineering, economics and social aspects. Innovative learning environment, science-based and practice-oriented curriculum, with a long history and a global network of alumni and cooperation partners.
  
Admission requirements:
  • Above-average Bachelor or equivalent university degree in Engineering after a minimum of seven semesters of studies, equal to 210 CP
  • Professional experience (post graduate, full time) of at least two years in a field related to the course focus
  • Proficiency in the English language equivalent to the level of B2 in the European reference framework (e.g. TOEFL iBT Score 80, IELTS Band 6)
  • Students enrol conditionally and fully enrol after successful completion of the preparatory semester.
  
Accreditation:Programme-accredited by Stiftung Akkreditierungsrat e.V., Bonn, 2025 – 2033.
  
Beginning of Programme:The programme begins in September with a six-month preparatory semester, comprising economics, methods and German language.
  
Programme Duration:24 months, 90 CP
  
 Structure:

1st Fall semester: preparatory courses

1st Spring semester: Emphasis on energy systems and modelling

2nd Fall semester: Emphasis on energy solutions and implementation

2nd Spring semester: Master thesis

Scholarships:A limited number of scholarships of the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) is available within the programme  "Development-Related Postgraduate Courses".
  
Application Deadlines:

DAAD scholarships: August 31st the year before the programme starts

Enrolment and Semester Fees:A non-recurring administration fee of 60 EUR for enrollment and a semester fee of 309,30 EUR per semester. The semester fee includes a semester ticket covering public transport within Flensburg and Schleswig Holstein as well as a Deutschlandticket for the duration of one semester. Cost of Living:The living cost in Flensburg are generally slightly lower than in bigger German cities. Depending on the individual lifestyle, a minimum of 750 EUR to 800 EUR is recommended per month, including rent. More information about costs is available in the section “Living in Flensburg”.
