The Spanish A2 course is designed for learners at elementary level and builds on the A1 course.
Using everyday topics and situations, the course expands learners’ upper-beginner knowledge of Spanish grammar and vocabulary. The development of thematic vocabulary focuses in particular on the following areas: learning, health, food, professions, scheduling, the city, historical dates, housing, and travel.
Grammar topics include, among others: the present indicative of regular verbs, irregular verbs, reflexive verbs, expressions of frequency (siempre, todos los días, muchas veces), adverbs of quantity, adjectives, gender of nouns, impersonal constructions with se, the present perfect (formation and use), irregular participles, expressing opinions, telling the time and dates, references to the future, and question words. In addition, students work on understanding a radio report, giving a short presentation, writing and revising a story, describing images, and discussing proverbs, among other communicative tasks.
The course takes place with 4 contact hours per week during the lecture period and is designed to enable participants to reach level A2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).
Regular and active participation is required for successful completion of the course. This also includes completing homework in order to practise and consolidate what has been learned.

The Spanish B1.2 course is designed for learners at a lower-intermediate level and builds on the B1.1 course.
Using everyday topics and communicative situations, the course further develops learners’ expanding knowledge of Spanish grammar and vocabulary. The development of thematic vocabulary focuses in particular on the areas of culture, society, education, and business.
Grammar topics include, among others: the use of the simple conditional and the present subjunctive; expressing wishes, requests, and speculation about future situations; different uses of past tenses in the indicative (especially indefinido, imperfecto, and pluscuamperfecto); complex uses of (in)direct and prepositional objects; the use of periphrastic constructions for a more creative and varied style; expressing tastes, feelings, preferences, values, and opinions and contrasting them; comparing objects and evaluating them; impersonal and accidental constructions and describing processes using the passive; direct and indirect questions; and expanding vocabulary in the areas of culture, society, education, and economics.
The course takes place with 2 contact hours per week during the lecture period and is designed to enable participants to reach level B1.1 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR).

The Spanish B2 course is designed for learners with solid intermediate knowledge and builds on the B1 course.
Using everyday topics and communicative situations, the course develops learners’ advanced knowledge of Spanish grammar and vocabulary. In particular, it aims to build the following skills: understanding extended speech and lectures and following complex lines of argument; understanding most news broadcasts, current affairs programmes, and feature films; interacting with a degree of fluency and spontaneity that makes regular interaction with native speakers possible; taking an active part in discussions in familiar contexts, explaining and defending viewpoints; presenting clear and detailed descriptions on a wide range of subjects related to personal interests; explaining a viewpoint on a current issue and discussing the advantages and disadvantages of different options; reading and understanding articles and reports on contemporary issues; understanding modern literary prose; writing clear and detailed texts on a wide range of subjects; producing essays and arguments for and against a particular point of view; and writing letters that highlight the personal significance of events and experiences.

El curso es ideal para las personas que deseen practicar el idioma español y mejorar su gramática, vocabulario y conocimiento de diversos temas relevantes a nivel mundial.
De momento se está explorando la posibilidad de invitar hispanohablantes a referir y participar en diversos temas.
Eine regelmäßige und aktive Teilnahme sind Voraussetzung für das erfolgreiche Absolvieren des Kurses. Dafür ist ebenfalls das Erledigen von Hausaufgaben notwendig, um das Gelernte weiter zu üben und zu festigen.

Course objective:
The aim of this course is to develop intercultural communication skills in Spanish in order to enhance professional interactions in work, tourism, and business contexts in Latin America and Spain.
Course Schedule
Session 1: Introduction to Intercultural Communication
Objectives: Understand basic concepts of intercultural communication; identify cultural differences between Germany, Spain, and Latin America.
Activities: Course introduction and overview of objectives; group discussion of personal intercultural experiences.
Session 2: Models of Intercultural Communication
Objectives: Become familiar with different models of intercultural communication (Hofstede, Trompenaars).
Activities: Analysis of theoretical models and their practical application in international management contexts.
Session 3: Language and Cultural Context
Objectives: Analyse the influence of cultural context on the use of Spanish; differentiate between Spanish spoken in Spain and in Latin America.
