Curriculum Vitae
János Sebestyén studied Applied Systems Science and Environmental Systems and Resource Management at the University of Osnabrück. In his bachelor's thesis, he examined the effect of heterogeneous size distribution of agricultural land on the climate effects of bioenergy-driven land use change. His master's thesis focused on modeling the environmental effects of consumption patterns that intensify use and extend the duration of use.
From 2016 to 2018, János Sebestyén worked as a research assistant at the North Rhine-Westphalia Consumer Advice Center, developing information and communication measures on sustainable consumption practices. During a subsequent stay abroad in Bethlehem, he volunteered at the Palestine Museum of Natural History. From 2020 to 2025, he worked as a research assistant at the Wuppertal Institute for Climate, Environment, and Energy, where he worked on application-oriented research projects in the areas of digital transformation, circular economy, and energy and industrial system transformation.
Since September 2025, János Sebestyén has been working as a research assistant at the Europa-Universität Flensburg in the Sustainable Energy Transition Department. In the ZiWoNu project, he is creating scenarios for circular housing use in Germany with the open-source model INHABIT.
