Delays in the Visa process

If you wish to begin your studies at the university in the fall semester but have not yet received your visa due to delays in the process, there are two options on how to consider:

1. You have been admitted, have accepted your place of study and enrolment has been requested. This process can be completed even if a visa is not yet available. This means that you are officially enrolled in the degree program. However, studying on-site will not be possible at that point. If you have received conditional admission, you must fulfill the requirements—proof of language proficiency and document verification—within the timeframe specified in the admission letter. You can send a certified copy of your documents to the admissions office via post. You can only attend lectures, once your visa is available. You have to pay the semester fee every semester, even during your time away, but you will be enrolled by the time you arrive in Flensburg.
2. If you have been admitted but don't accept your place of study or enrol, you can focus on obtaining a visa during this time. Nevertheless, the existing admission letters can already be downloaded and kept. When you reapply, you can use the saved admission letter to apply through the “fast-lane” and start in the fall semester 2027/28. The application period for the next winter semester is expected to start on December 1, giving you more time to take care of your visa.
