Visiting fellowships at Europa-Universität Flensburg may be individually organized by contacting a potential host at Europa-Universität Flensburg. You may search for a suitable host by browsing information provided our research centers, faculties and institutes. You can then discuss the details of your stay with us with your host, including the aim and scope of your stay, the time frame and general aspects such as access to EUF’s facilities.

Europa-Universität Flensburg welcomes visiting scholars all year around, yet our campus is most vibrant during the lecture period. Please check our current and future semester dates when planning your stay and discuss a potential time frame with your host.

There are several options to fund your stay at Europa-Universität Flensburg. Besides funding opportunities provided by the Erasmus+ program, the Germane Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), the Humboldt Foundation und the European University Alliance EMERGE, you may also check the funding opportunities of your home institution und national support agencies. 

Erasmus+ teaching or training mobility

You may fund your stay at Europa-Universität Flensburg through Erasmus+ teaching or training mobility funds. Please contact the local Erasmus Office at your home institution for further information.

DAAD Research Grants

The German Academic Exchange service provides research grants for international doctoral researchers (2-12 months) and postdoctoral researchers (2-6 months). 

Humboldt Foundation Research Grants

The Humboldt Foundation provides research grants for experienced researchers (postdoc level and above) for 6-24 months. 

EMERGE Third-Places Research Fellowships

The European University Alliance EMERGE provides funding for one-month Third-Places Research Fellowships. Experienced researchers (postdoc level and above) from any EMERGE Alliance member university may apply for funding at their home institution. Please contact your local EMERGE Research coordinator for more information.

In order to receive access to an EUF email account, the university WiFi and the Central University Library, we recommend signing a Visiting Professorship Contract or a Visiting Researcher Contract. These unpaid contracts regulate the framework conditions of your stay with us and can be issued for a period of up to one year. Please contact your EUF host for further details and make sure to sign the contract well in advance of your arrival to ensure that the desired access to the university’s facilities is available upon your arrival.

Flensburg and the Flensburg Fjord are scienic and popular holiday destinations with plenty of offers for short term accommodation, including hotels, holiday apartments and airb’n’b options.

If you are planning to stay in Flensburg for a longer period of time, you may wish to find an apartment in town.

Depending on your nationality, you may need to apply for a visa for your research stay in Germany.
