A1
Level A1 means that you can understand and use familiar everyday expressions and very basic phrases aimed at satisfying concrete needs. You can introduce yourself and others, can ask other people questions about themselves (for example, where they live, what kind of people they know, and what kinds of things they have), and can yourself respond to such questions. You can interact in a simple way if the person the other person speaks slowly and clearly and is willing to help.
A2
Level A2 means that you can understand sentences and frequently used expressions related to areas of most immediate relevance (e.g. personal and family information, shopping, work, local geography). You can communicate in simple, routine situations involving a simple and direct exchange of information about familiar and routine matters. You can describe in simple terms your own background and education, immediate environment and matters related to immediate needs.
B1
Level B1 means that you understand the main points of a discussion when clear standard language is used and when it is about familiar matters concerning work, school, leisure, etc. You can deal with most situations involving your own background, education, and immediate needs. You can handle most situations encountered when traveling in the area where the language is spoken. You can express yourself simply and coherently on familiar topics and those of personal interest to you. You can also report on experiences and events, describe dreams, hopes and ambitions, and give brief reasons or explanations for plans and opinions.
B2
Level B2 means that you can understand the main content of complex texts on both concrete and abstract topics in your own area of specialization, as well as technical discussions. You can communicate so spontaneously and fluently that a normal conversation with native speakers is quite possible without much effort on either side. You can also express yourself clearly and in detail on a wide range of topics, explain a point of view on a topical issue, and state the advantages and disadvantages of various options.
C1
Level C1 means that you can understand a wide range of demanding, longer texts and also grasp implicit meanings. You can express yourself spontaneously and fluently, without often having to search for clearly recognizable words. You can also use the language effectively and flexibly in social and professional life or in training and study. You can express yourself in a clear, well-structured and detailed way on complex subjects, making appropriate use of various means of connecting texts.
C2
Level C2 means that you can understand with ease virtually everything you read or hear. You can summarize information from various written and oral sources, reconstructing arguments and explanations in a coherent presentation. You can also express yourself spontaneously, very fluently and precisely, differentiating finer shades of meaning clear even in more complex situations.
