How is digitalization changing democratic processes? What role do polarization, political emotions, and populist dynamics play in the future of our democracies? And how can the rule of law be strengthened in an increasingly digitalized public sphere?

These questions will be at the heart of an event with Margrethe Vestager, who will give an input on “The Future of Democracy in an Era of Digitalization and Polarization”.

She will then be joined for a panel discussion by:

• Torben Lütjen — Participation and Democracy Research

Together, we will examine key challenges facing democratic societies in the digital age — and explore the perspectives that academia, politics, and the public sphere can develop for addressing polarization and digital transformation processes.
