American Studies Week 2018

From December 3-5, 2018, our annual American Studies Week took place.

In a three-day series of international events, including guest lectures and workshops, current teaching and research projects in American Studies were presented and discussed.

Thomas Austenfeld (Université de Fribourg):

"Confessional Poetry and the Cold War"

Thomas Austenfeld is Professor of American Literature at the Université de Fribourg, Switzerland. In this lecture, he will be discussing a broad variety of poems by Elizabeth Bishop and Robert Lowell in the context of Cold-War America.

Conspiracy Theory and Narratives of 9/11

The joint international seminar ("The Power of Narrative: Conspiracy Theory and 9/11") aimed at strengthening the ties between EUF, SDU, and the University of Limerick, providing a network for students and teachers across the Danish-German border. Students had been working together on specific focus tasks and presented the results of their discussions. The workshop was generously sponsored by the EUF’s Ausschuss für Europa und Internationales.
