Europe Week 2026 will take place from May 4 to 8. Under the theme “Freedom and Disinformation,” it will explore aspects of (academic) freedom in light of the growing spread of disinformation via social media and AI.

The main event is the European Future Talks (Monday, May 4, 9:15 a.m.–12:15 p.m.).
The Future Talks are an interactive format designed to foster dialogue between politics, business, academia, and society. Under the theme “Freedom of expression and information in Europe – Building democracy based on human dignity,” in addition to two short panels, there will be an opportunity to engage in conversation with the invited representatives in an accessible, informal exchange format.

The exhibition “Standing for Freedom – Poser pour la liberté” will be on display in the Helsinki Foyer throughout the week. Invited to EUF by CaNOFF and the Institut français d’Allemagne (Berlin), the exhibition explores issues of academic freedom and exile through fifteen portraits of scholars who were forced into exile.

The program also features exciting lectures, workshops, seminars, city tours, and film nights. The program also features exciting lectures, workshops, seminars, city tours, and film nights.
