Research project: Multilingual Dynamics: A Cross-Typological Language Analysis through the Lens of Diasystematic Construction Grammar (supervision: Prof. Dr. Karoline Kühl)
Language contact is an inevitable phenomenon in the modern world. Traditional language contact theories have primarily focused on strict grammatical constraints, whereas more recent research underlines the role of usage-based factors like constructional change and frequency in shaping bilingual language. This project investigates how contact between Akan, German, and English in a trilingual speaker community affects structural and usage-based changes in these languages, thus adding knowledge on the contact between typologically different languages.
