"Ivy Day" is a day commemorating the Irish politician, Charles Stewart Parnell, and also the day on which James Joyce's "Ivy Day in the Committee Room" takes place. This year, we will be participating in the commemoration with a culinary odyssey through Joyce's Dubliners, a performance of Joyce's short story "Ivy Day in the Committee Room," and live music. Monthly Pub Quizzes in the Fall!

The EUF Centre for Irish Studies is pleased to be organizing monthly pub quizzes for this Fall will take place at McMelson's Pub (Norderhofenden 10, 24937 Flensburg) at 19:30 on Sept 29, Oct 20, Nov 10 and Dec 8! A big thank you to our members Lara, Sébastien and Swat who will be challenging us with their questions all semester and to McMelson's for the prizes!

Film Screening: Michael Collins

Join us on Nov 25 for a screening of Neil Jordan's gripping biopic of the Irish revolutionary, Michael Collins. Doors open at 18:15 and the screening starts at 18:30. Popcorn etc. will be provided (but feel free to bring your own as well).

M.Ed. Thesis on Irish Women wins thesis prize

On 26 September 2025, Lenke Tabea Petersen was awarded the DEBEKA Group prize for outstanding Master's thesis in teacher training for her M.Ed. Thesis, "Poor Bridget found it necessary to emigrate – The Portrayal of Irish Women in the Fiction of Kate Kerrigan and Alice McDermott."

Irish Ambassador to Germany, Maeve Collins, delivers Minerva-Midsummer Lecture
