Bloomsday is the day on which James Joyce's Ulysses takes place, and is a celebrated global literary event. The English Department and its Fachschaftvertretung are very pleased to bring its traditions to EUF. Our Bloomsday features a culinary odyssey through Ulysses, making up the Joyce-inspired buffet; dramatic scenes from Ulysses; and live music!

What's Bloomsday?

For those of you who have never heard the term "Bloomsday" before, this is the day on which James Joyce's Ulysses takes place (June 16, 1904; though we'll be doing ours on June 16). It is celebrated all over the world with the staging of scenes from Ulysses, singing of songs that come up in the book, and attempts at retracing Leopold Bloom's day in Dublin. Our version will be a little less traditional, but it will still involve some dramatic scenes from Joyce, food, music, a BBQ, and lots of merriment.
