The ViNoRHM project blends micro-level case studies on language ideology, policy, and practice using primary texts from official records and previously underexplored archival materials. This approach brings to light previously unseen or overlooked languages and individuals (especially women and the un-/less educated), offering an innovative portrayal of the linguistic history of the German-Danish border region in the 19th century.

The ViNoRHM workshop gathers researchers from the border region, Europe, and North America to discuss the project's core topics. This one-day workshop will serve as a meeting point for researchers from various fields of linguistics, minority policy, and regional history, specifically focusing on the German-Danish border region in the 19th century. Progress on the ViNoRHM project will be showcased, and participants will have the opportunity to engage in discussions on specific project-related topics.

Following the workshop, there will be a reception at the European Centre for Minority Issues (ECMI) in the Kompagnietor at Schiffbrücke 12, 24939 Flensburg. This will provide an opportunity to  continue conversations about research and to network over "wine and snacks."

Both the workshop and the reception will be conducted in German and/or English, depending on the presenter's preference.

Costs: Free of charge
