Teaching in Tandem with Real-World Practice
Sometimes it’s not so easy to imagine how the many theoretical components of a degree program fit together at the practical level. The solution for practice-oriented teaching: lecturers who come to the university directly from a professional field, bringing their own experience to the course.
Lecturers who teach at the university alongside their normal day-to-day jobs, bringing in knowledge directly from the field are just one part of the equation. The other part of it rests with student teachers and so-called "seconded" teachers—that is, teachers who transfer directly into our university from schools for two or three years, bringing their first-hand experience into the classroom.
More hands-on experience through internships
To make our classes even more dynamic, internships are an important component at the university. In fact, an internship is required or recommended in almost every degree program at EUF, giving students a chance to connect early on to the world of professional practice outside of their studies.
In the Educational Science B.A. program — the starting point of our teacher education program — the first student internship is scheduled right into the first semester. This allows our students to quickly gain insight into everyday working life and assess whether their chosen path is a good fit for them.
