Writing new chapters in life with courage, curiosity and humor

Europa-Universität Flensburg (EUF) kicks off the new fall semester with a welcome ceremony for first-semester students

EUF-President Prof. Dr. Christiane Hipp welcomes a total of 1,527 first-semester students for the fall semester 2025/26. The number of students is thus following the nationwide trend and is once again declining. They start their studies in Education, European and Transformation Studies with the induction week.

The first event of the induction week is the ceremonial welcome of the students in the Campus Hall. The induction week is traditionally organized by volunteer students, the “Unistarter”. The new students were welcomed by EUF President Christiane Hipp, Deputy City President Ralf Loell and the AStA.

Starting the studies with the induction week

In the first week, students receive support and information on how they can organize their studies at the EUF, for example there are information events on course selection or introductory events for the subjects. Also important are the various Unistarter events, which are designed to make it easier for new students to make contact with fellow students.

University President Christiane Hipp advises newcomers: "To help you feel at home straight away, find fellow students from northern Germany, ask them about the best beaches, rain jackets and cafés and discover the rest together. A new chapter begins today. Write it with courage, curiosity - and humor."
