Deutschlandstipendium: Making a Real Impact through Funding
There are many happy faces at the Deutschlandstipendium award ceremony. ‘We are delighted that more than 50 students can be supported this year. This investment in the future has many advantages,’ says Prof. Dr. Christiane Hipp, President of the EUF. ‘The Deutschlandstipendium gives students more freedom, allowing them to study without worries, do voluntary work, or pursue further education. This makes a real difference to the scholarship holders. I would like to express my sincere thanks to the sponsors for this.’
Private sponsors and the federal government jointly support talented students through the Deutschlandstipendium, providing a total of €300 per month. What counts is not only good grades, but also voluntary social engagement.
During the award ceremony, scholarship recipients had the opportunity to chat with sponsors at group tables. New this year: students introduced themselves in short videos and answered the question of how the Deutschlandstipendium enables them to take on responsibility.
One of the recipients is Rue Gürcan. Rue is studying Culture – Language – Media and, alongside studying, volunteers in animal welfare and works to promote a more diverse society. ‘If I can combine my studies with projects alongside my everyday student life, I can directly link theory and practice and raise awareness of socially relevant issues. With the scholarship, I now have much more security to focus on my projects with even more passion: whether in cultural journalism, politics, or animal welfare work,’ explains Rue Gürcan.
Funding Strengthens the Region as a Centre of Science and Research
13 companies, associations, and foundations from Schleswig-Holstein and across Germany support the award-winning students with scholarships. New this year, for example, is Nord-Ostsee-Sparkasse, which is sponsoring five scholarship holders. ‘By supporting young talent on their path, we are not only promoting scientific progress, but also strengthening our society as a whole,’ explains Thomas Menke, Chairman of the Board of Nord-Ostsee-Sparkasse.
The Deutschlandstipendium not only supports individual students but also strengthens Flensburg as a centre of science and research.
