4+4 reasons for joy - Europa-Universität Flensburg celebrates its graduates

Graduates in all three profile areas “Education - Europe - Transformation” celebrated their graduation certificates at the Europa-Universität Flensburg (EUF)

The EUF bid farewell to its graduates at four graduation ceremonies.  "At the Europa-Universität Flensburg, you were able to experience how internationality is lived. Take what you have learned here with you as a tool for the challenges of our time. Stand up for the values of Europe. For tolerance, freedom and democracy. Take your social responsibility seriously," President Prof. Dr. Christiane Hipp urges the students. “You are needed in education, business, politics and society, and with your sound training in teaching, education, European studies, transformation and sustainability, you are well prepared,” emphasized Hipp. Four outstanding Master's theses were also honored.

Well equipped for the challenges ahead with the European and transformation degree programs

In September, the graduates of the Master's degree courses in Transformation, European Studies, Bildung in Europa, Kultur-Sprache-Medien and the Bachelor's graduates of the European Cultures and Society degree courses were given a ceremonial farewell. 109 students graduated from these courses this year.

Prof. Dr. Anke Wischmann, Vice President for Studies and Teaching, encouraged the students: "You are well prepared to face the challenges of our time. I wish you courage, curiosity and confidence for the next steps. What you have learned and experienced at our university will guide you. Take our European spirit out into the world."

Taking the next step on the path to a teaching career with the Master's thesis

The graduation of 119 students of educational sciences was celebrated on September 26; a total of 511 students had graduated from the various teacher training courses this year. With their Master's degree in the bag, the next step in the various teaching careers is now the traineeship.

Prof. Dr. Iulia Patrut, Vice-President for Research at the EUF, made it clear that the teachers of tomorrow in particular are responsible for an important building block in the promotion of democracy: "John Dewey already said: 'Democracy must be learned anew by each generation. ' We are proud of our graduates and know that, in addition to specialist knowledge, they will also convey the value of our democracy and its foundation, independent thinking, to future generations in Schleswig-Holstein. Because, according to Hannah Ahrendt: 'The opposite of good is not evil, but the absence of any independent power of judgment.

Economic expertise for a strong network in culture, business and politics

The 89 graduates of the Bachelor's and Master's degree programs “International Management” and four doctorates were celebrated this year at the Flensburg Chamber of Industry and Commerce. Dr. Klarissa Lueg, Head of the German-Danish degree programme at SDU, emphasized the great importance of the degree programme and its graduates for the region: "We are proud of our graduates, who today form a strong network in business, culture and politics in the German-Danish border region. Their success, and their frequent return as guest speakers or lecturers in our degree programs, encourages us in our commitment to cross-border cooperation between Syddansk Universitet and EUF."

And Prof. Dr. Susanne Royer, who heads the course at the European University, emphasizes: "They have not only acquired economic expertise and linguistic strength, but also what really counts today: Openness, intercultural competence and the ability to find solutions together across borders - all the things that make your studies in the German-Danish border region so unique."

International graduates start a new chapter in their lives with a traditional leap in the air

The students of the Master's program Energy and Environmental Management in Developing Countries and the M.Eng. Sustainable Energy and Development also celebrated their graduation. The 14 graduates come from 12 different countries and had already worked in a profession before studying at the EUF. By studying in the North, they were able to immerse themselves in the topics of sustainability and energy in developing countries and are now part of the 35th successful graduating class. The head of the study program Prof. Dr. Bernd Möller and his colleagues Nafiseh Mirzakhani and Mominul Hasan presented them with their certificates.

The graduates are now starting their careers again, with international companies in Germany, in their home countries or for their doctorates. We also welcomed 14 new students from Nepal, Kenya, Indonesia, Bangladesh, Ghana, Colombia, Pakistan, Gambia, Mongolia and Afghanistan.
