New meeting place opens on the EUF campus
The new meeting place, where EMERGE truly comes to life on the EUF campus, was inaugurated with a small campus festival featuring multilingual poetry, traditional dances and speeches that immediately immersed the visitors in the values of the European university alliance.
Marlene Langholz-Kaiser and Lucila Morales de Mittag hosted a colorful opening program on the first day. Students from the European Cultures and Society, Transcultural European Studies, and teacher training programs, as well as international staff recited poems in eight languages and showcased the cultural and linguistic diversity at EUF.
Various insights into the values of EMERGE were then shared as part of Voices Rising, as lecturers and students described moments of inclusion, resilience, and sustainability. These ranged from experiences at EUF, to encounters with resilience through interactions with international peers and during trips abroad. At the Tree of Voices, visitors could leave their own thoughts and ideas about sustainability, inclusion, and resilience. Anke Wischmann shares a text on inclusion, sustainability, and resilience
On the second day, a tree was planted on the EUF campus in collaboration with Waldwuchs Flensburg. The EMERGE tree serves as a symbol of something that will endure. EMERGE aims to strengthen collaboration and further embed sustainability and inclusion in the region.
On day three, an intercultural speed meeting took place. This was organized in collaboration with the City of Flensburg as part of their anti-racism campaign. At the Meet, Talk & Connect event, EUF students engaged in conversation with Flensburg inhabitants from a wide variety of backgrounds and discovered new perspectives.
