The Norbert Elias Center researches how social change can succeed in the face of ecological, social, and political crises—with the goals of sustainability and global justice. Our work combines critical transformation research with the analysis of historical, present, and future developments, as well as the participatory design of systemic change—in close cooperation with academia, civil society, and social movements.
Master's program in Transformation Studies
Since the fall semester of 2017, the Norbert Elias Center has been responsible for the master's program in Transformation Studies. This German language program enables students to critically explore the opportunities, challenges, and limitations of social transformation, with a strong emphasis on sustainability, global justice, and the complex dynamics shaping contemporary change.
