EUF Language Centre at the Schleswig-Holstein Language Teaching Day
At the Schleswig-Holstein Language Teaching Day, hosted by Kiel University of Applied Sciences (HAW Kiel), teaching staff from language provision units at higher education institutions across Schleswig-Holstein came together to exchange best practices, discuss current challenges, and explore future perspectives for language education. The programme focused on topics such as tandem learning, artificial intelligence in language teaching, international projects, and networking among colleagues.
The Language Centre of the Europa-Universität Flensburg contributed the workshop "Between Polycrises and Shaping the Future – Envisioning Language Provision in Higher Education in 2035."Together with the participants, Olga Kim-Wtorow and Katrin Stamm (German as a Foreign and Second Language) developed future scenarios and practical strategies for strengthening language provision at higher education institutions.
Another milestone of the Language Teaching Day was the selection of a name for the language provision units at higher education institutions in Schleswig-Holstein, founded on 13 June 2025 on the initiative of Nina Dethlefs (TH Lübeck) and Katrin Stamm (EUF). The network will henceforth be known as SprachnetzSH, reflecting its vision of becoming Schleswig-Holstein's network for future-oriented and professional language education.
The participating institutions in SprachnetzSH are TH Lübeck – University of Applied Sciences, Europa-Universität Flensburg (EUF), Kiel University (CAU), Kiel University of Applied Sciences (HAW Kiel), FH Westküste – University of Applied Sciences, and Flensburg University of Applied Sciences (HS Flensburg).
