"Listening to the Margins": EMERGE-Webinar
Organised by Europa-Universität Flensburg (EUF), the event brought together researchers from the EMERGE network working on minority languages and cultures. The focus was on sharing insights into ongoing research and exploring how common interests could be used to strengthen collaboration.
The webinar marked the start of an annual series intended to provide a regular opportunity for exchange on topics relating to minority languages and cultures. The first event focused on getting to know one another. Participants presented their research and discussed potential areas of common interest.
The first part of the webinar featured a variety of research projects and areas of work covering a broad range of European minority languages, from South Schleswig Danish and North Frisian to Breton, Galician and Kven. The European Centre for Minority Issues (ECMI), based in Flensburg, also presented the Minority Language Policy Index.
This was followed by an open discussion exploring opportunities for joint activities and collaboration within EMERGE. Participants were also given an overview of existing funding and cooperation formats, including the EMERGE Joint Research Call, fellowships and Blended Intensive Programmes (BIPs).
The exchange highlighted numerous shared research interests, promising opportunities for collaboration and a range of ideas for future joint projects and activities.
