Renewable Landscapes: Research into transformation linked to the energy transition in Schleswig-Holstein (ELET)
The project aims to identify key areas of action and aspects of the energy transition and to present a corresponding overview of the research landscape in Schleswig-Holstein. In doing so, the themes of the energy transition and the land use transition are linked to the sustainability strategies of efficiency, consistency and, above all, sufficiency.

Description
The transformation of our energy system is a project involving the whole of society, which goes far beyond the technical transition to renewable energy. Renewable energy is, nonetheless, a key measure for climate protection and an essential component of sustainability strategies aimed at consistency and efficiency. The project is based on the recognition that a socio-ecological transformation requires a profound change in the way energy is generated and used, and in how we manage our natural resources, particularly land. The project therefore places particular emphasis on the central role of the sustainability strategy of sufficiency. It is becoming increasingly important when testing new approaches for equitable and future-proof solutions. Sufficiency strategies rely not solely on technical solutions, but above all on sustainable framework conditions, the restructuring of infrastructure and social innovations. They aim to recognise planetary boundaries and foster a societal understanding of social foundations and their equitable organisation.
By adopting a multidisciplinary perspective and linking the objectives of the energy transition and the land use transition, the aim is to establish a cross-sectoral approach that highlights the need for a paradigm shift in how we manage energy generation and consumption, as well as in resource and land management. The aim is to provide impetus for research and policy in Schleswig-Holstein in order to develop effective and sustainable solutions to the challenges of this century.
