You generally have the option to decide whether you want to take an exam during the first or second exam period. According to § 11 paragraph 3 of Europa-University Flensburg's General Examination Regulations, you can take exams during the second exam period even if you didn't register to take it during the first exam period. So if you want to postpone your exam and possible allow yourself a bit more time to study, please withdraw from the module exam in the first exam period  - or don't sign up for it at all.

You can only register to take an exam in the second exam period after the first exam period has ended. This happens after the second week of February. However, a word of caution: if you postpone the exam to the second date and then fail it, you won't get another exam date for that subject. The next opportunity to take it would be during the next regular exam period, which could be at the end of the spring semester or even at the end of the following fall semester, depending on the module. When in doubt, please check the course offerings for that module in your module handbook.

One more thing to note: this rule only applies to degree programs that actually offer two exam periods.

Every subject group at EUF has set an allocation algorithm to distribute the places in those courses. During the registration phase, students can set "priorities" to indicate which courses they would prefer to get in a specific module.

Further information

Exam administration

The examination regulations for different subjects set forth certain prerequisites. Students must meet these prerequisites before they can register for exams in specific modules.

The most common prerequisite is that certain modules need to be fully passed before advancing in one's studies. A typical notification might read something like "Successfully completing Modules 1 + 2 is a prerequisite" ("Voraussetzung sind die bestandenen Module 1 + 2").

There might be instances where you're unable to register for exams, even though your professors have informed you that you passed all the required tests.

The reason for this usually lies in the "transmission route" of grades from the professor to the exam administration system. Various factors can delay the entry of grades.

If the exam registration period is already underway, the following contacts can help:

  • Please reach out to your professor if no grades have been announced at all.
  • Contact your department's office if grades you've been informed about haven't shown up on your transcript yet.
  • If all your modules are correctly marked with BE (the abbreviation for passed exams/courses) but you still can't register, please reach out to the email lsf-admin(at)uni-flensburg.de. In this case, there might be a technical issue.

Generally, you receive bonus points for every exam you take, in accordance with the corresponding examination regulations and module catalogs. These are displayed under "Transcript" after you log into Studiport, alongside your grade.

Credit points are only counted or added to your overall account or counted once you've passed all of your partial courses and exams (Teilleistungen)and the module exam. Only when the entire module is considered passed are the credit points transferred to your overall account.

If you still have questions about your credit points, please contact the Examination Office.

Please contact the relevant department office (Sekretariat).
