Focus on Gender Equality at Universities
On the occasion of the International Day of Action on March 31, 2023, the diversity officers of Christian-Albrechts-Universität zu Kiel, Europa Universität Flensburg (EUF) and Kiel University of Applied Sciences (FH) have organized an online event series in cooperation with the queer representatives of the ASTA student associations in CAU and Kiel University of Applied Sciences.
Workshops and a panel discussion
To mark the Day of Visibility of the Trans-, Inter- and Non-Binary (TIN*) Community, the event program (March 29-31) focuses on empowerment for TIN university members, allyship/alliances with TIN students and university staff, an introductory workshop on gender diversity, and political developments in queer policies at universities in three workshops and a panel discussion. While the workshops are geared more toward members of the participating universities, the panel discussion, "Trans Policies at Universities," is open to all interested parties.
Many universities are now actively committed to gender diversity, yet hurdles still remain in everyday university life for trans-, inter- and non-binary people. What might a TINnclusive university look like? How does politics currently treat the topic, and what is the actual status of the Self-Determination Act? Experts from universities, science and politics will discuss these and other questions. One of the participants will be Anna Langsch (Bündnis90/Die Grünen), a member of the state parliament, whose main focus is queer politics in Schleswig-Holstein. The event will be moderated by Paul Ninus Naujoks, known among other things as the author of "Männer und Zerbrechlichkeiten. Life is a Story."
Registration for all events is via Eventbrite.
