Update - Weather-related closure of the Europa-Universität

ZHB and sports center will remain closed on January 10th. Normal operation is expected to start on Monday.

Update as of January 9th, 2026, 3 pm: below

As part of their responsibilities President Christiane Hipp and Chancellor Linda Baasch, they have decided to close the university on 09.01.2026. This also applies to the Zentrale Hochschulbliothek and the Sports Center. Mobile working is ordered for all employees, please refer to the service agreement. The buildings will remain closed.

Examinations that were scheduled for Friday are generally canceled, they will be rescheduled, alternative dates will be communicated next week. Oral examinations will be moved to digital. 

Thesis submission deadlines from Friday, 09.01.2026 to Friday, 16.01.2026, will be extended by exactly one week to compensate for the library closure. Students can also take advantage of the same one-week period if term papers, presentation notes and similar examination papers to be completed at home fall within the submission period 09-16.01.2026.

Lecturers and students receive information on examination matters directly by e-mail from the Service Center for Examination Matters.

The Zentrale Hochschulbliothek and the Sports Center will also be closed on Friday; you can find out about opening on Saturday, 10.01.2026, on the website. 

Update as of January 9th, 2026, 3 pm – What happens next?

The Zentrale Hochschulbibliothek and the sports center will remain closed on Saturday, January 10th 2026. All other university buildings will be open as usual. 

Normal operations are expected to resume on Monday, January 12th 2026. All EUF facilities are expected to then reopen as usual. Written and oral exams expected to take place as planned.
