Conversation on "Violence and Reconciliation in the Middle East"
Since the terrorist attack by Hamas fighters on the Israeli population a few days ago, violence has escalated again in the Middle East. Israel's military response is leading to worrying humanitarian consequences in Gaza.
In view of this terrible conflict situation, which directly affects some of our international students, the Vice-President for Europe and International Affairs of the EUF, Prof. Ulrich Glassmann, and the Head of the Wasatia Graduate School for Peace and Conflict Studies of the EUF, Prof. Ralf Wüstenberg, invite all interested students and employees to an exchange at the Campelle. We would like to thank ESG Flensburg for their kind support.
The choice of this venue is meant to underline the aspiration for a peaceful and constructive conversation about the suffering from war in the Middle East. With our expert for peace research, Prof. Wüstenberg, we will discuss possible forms of conflict resolution and reconciliation work and explore the question of what contribution universities can make in such situations.
In doing so, we are deliberately opening up a space for discussion at the university, which is intended to assure all students and employees that the university is and must remain a place where all people, regardless of their origin, should feel safe and welcome and where they can freely express their thoughts and perspectives respectfully and in awareness of the dignity of every human being.
Kind regards
Ulrich Glassmann
Vice President for European and International Affairs
