The EUF on the move
In September and under the team name “Team EUF DiKoM,” Sara Romano, Sabine Guldenschuh, and Prof. Dr. Marion Döll from the Department of German Studies participated in the Hamburg Stadtpark Triathlon, which is the city’s oldest triathlon event. Competing among female participants, the team proudly secured the 13th place. Organized annually by FC St. Pauli, the triathlon celebrated its 24th edition this year.
Action also took place on the water: in July 2025, after a ten-year break, the Flensburg Dragon Boat Race (“Drachenbootrennen”) made its comeback. Nineteen EUF members took to the water, forming the “EUF CAMPUSFlotte.” With dedicated training sessions, the team honed their technique and spirit, to prepare for the big day. Facing off against local organizations, clubs, and businesses from Flensburg and its surrounding area, the team finished 15th out of 52 teams with an impressive time of 1:10 minutes. Proceeds from the event went to support regional social projects. With the traditional race call: “Are you ready? Attention! Go!”, students, staff, and even the university president Christiane Hipp paddled toward the harbor's edge with full enthusiasm.
Meanwhile, students from the UniStarter Flensburg team were not only busy preparing to welcome EUF’s incoming first-year students, they also hit the ground running at the “Flensburg liebt dich” Marathon. The scenic route stretched from Flensburg’s harbor to the city center, starting and ending at the Südermarkt. The UniStarters joined the relay race as a team of seven, with each student running one section of the course. A sporty warm-up for the upcoming Orientation Week, which kicked off for the team just days later.
