Panel on Ecological Planning

On May 30, 2026, the "Journées économiques internationales 2026" (International Economics Days), organized by the French Institut La Boétie, took place at the Maison de la Chimie in Paris. The conference addressed key issues regarding the global economic order, socio-ecological transformation, and public financing.

Matthias Schmelzer participated in the panel discussion "Comment planifier pour répondre aux besoins écologiques et sociaux?" (How to plan to meet ecological and social needs?), discussing ecological planning and social needs alongside Mathilde Viennot, Isabella Weber, and Cédric Durand. A video of the discussion is now available online.

Other speakers at the event included James Kenneth Galbraith, Emiliano Brancaccio, Daniela Gabor, Gabriel Zucman, Branko Milanovic, Anne-Laure Delatte, Jean-Luc Mélenchon, and Clémence Guetté. The event focused on climate change, geopolitical shifts, and social inequalities. It marked the third edition of the international economics conference organized by the Institut La Boétie’s economics department.
