Dialogue Workshop on Belegungsvorgaben
Berlin
Jonas Lage, in collaboration with GRÜNE LIGA, is organizing a dialogue workshop on Belegungsvorgaben.
Belegungsvorgaben are regulations applied by approximately 70% of Swiss housing cooperatives. To ensure that the often scarce housing stock is allocated according to need, cooperative members have agreed that the number of rooms in an apartment should not exceed the number of residents plus one. If an apartment becomes too large due to individual residents moving out, the cooperative offers alternative, smaller apartments. This allows the larger apartment to be reassigned to a larger household. If the residents do not accept any of the offers, their lease could be terminated as a lastresort. Belegungsvorgaben are widely accepted in Switzerland, and in most cases, enforcement can be avoided. A brief expert opinion by Prof. Dr. Arnold Lehmann-Richter has already confirmed the fundamental legal feasibility of implementing this in Germany.
Interested housing cooperatives are invited to the dialogue workshop to discuss together whether—and under what circumstances—this tool might also be relevant in the German context.
The event will take place on October 9 from 9:30 a.m. to 1:15 p.m. in Berlin.
If you are interested in participating in the dialogue, please feel free to contact Arthur Haus, Housing Advisor at GRÜNE LIGA, with any questions: wohnflaeche@grueneliga.de
