Calendar of ICES

Dear colleagues,

we would like to draw your attention to the following event on Tuesday, 16 June from 10:30 to 12:00 in Tallinn 007: “The Future of Democracy in an Era of Digitalization and Polarization”

How is digitalization changing democratic processes? What role do polarization, political emotions, and populist dynamics play in the future of our democracies? And how can the rule of law be strengthened in an increasingly digitalized public sphere?

These questions will be at the center of an event with Margrethe Vestager, who will give an input on “The Future of Democracy in an Era of Digitalization and Polarization”.

The input will be followed by a panel discussion with:

Anna-Katharina Mangold (European Law), Anne Reichold (Philosophy), Torben Lütjen (Participation and Democracy Research)

The discussion will be moderated by Felix Butzlaff.

Together, we will explore key challenges facing democratic societies in the digital age, as well as perspectives from academia, politics, and the public sphere on how to address polarization and digital transformation processes.
