Application Deadlines
For all semesters in the spring semester:
Application start: 1 December
Application deadline: 15 January
For all semesters in the autumn semester:
Application start: 15 May
Application deadline: 15 July
(The application deadlines apply only to the specialisations "Transition" and "Engineering.")
Application for the Specialisation Development
The application for the specialisation "Development" (DAAD-funded programme for international students) is not part of the central application and allocation process. For further information, please visit the website of the Sustainable Energy and Development.
Specialisation Transition
Admission requirements for the Master of Engineering in Sustainable Energy with a focus on "Transition" are as follows:
- A degree from a bachelor's programme of at least seven semesters in engineering, industrial engineering, or sustainability sciences with a focus on energy topics, comprising a minimum of 210 credit points (CP).
- A subject-specific stay abroad in the form of studies, an internship, or a comparable experience, amounting to at least 20 credit points or four months, with a predominant focus on economics, engineering, or sustainability sciences.
- Proof of at least good English proficiency at level B2.2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), demonstrated through secondary school qualifications or recognised international tests.
Specialisation Engineering
Admission requirements for the Master of Engineering in Sustainable Energy with a focus on "Engineering" are as follows:
- A degree from a bachelor's programme of at least seven semesters in engineering or industrial engineering with a focus on energy topics, comprising a minimum of 210 credit points (CP).
- Proof of at least good English proficiency at level B2.2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages (CEFR), demonstrated through secondary school qualifications or recognised international tests.
Application for the Specialisation Development

Provisional Admission
For provisional admission, you must submit the documents listed in your admission letter to the Student Services Office within the specified deadline. Only upon receipt of these documents will the admission offer be confirmed and the study place secured.
If applicable, you may be required to take additional "bridging courses." Please note the following:
- The required bridging courses must be completed within the first two semesters.
- You may choose from suitable Bachelor’s or Master’s courses; however, you must coordinate your course selection in advance with the programme coordinator.
- The courses will appear on your transcript but will not be included in your final Master’s grade.
- The specific bridging courses you need to take will depend on the requirements outlined in your individual admission letter.
For International Applicants
To facilitate the visa process for international students, the programme coordination office issues an individual confirmation of the admission letter.
