This collaborative and generative workshop provides space and time for social sciences researchers at the doctoral level who write their dissertation in English. The course is informed by an understanding of writing as a social practice, taking into account behavioural, artisanal, social and emotional habits (Sword, 2017). It also draws on postcolonial (Connell 2007; 2015; Bhambra 2007; Ashcroft, Griffiths, and Tiffin 1995) and feminist literature (Danvers, Hinton-Smith, and Webb 2019; Richardson 2001) to inform our understaning of writing.
Participants will be asked to bring a concrete writing project to the session. Preparatory activities, such as a reading, a writing exercise or a reflective piece, are provided. The course is designed as a two-day workshop, covering four modules, moving between reflective and technical aspects of doctoral writing.
