“Empty Nest Syndrome” (ENS); that is the phenomenon of a parent or parents who, having raised children, find themselves bereft when the last or only child leaves home. The subject of many newspaper articles [...] empty nest is by sociologists. Spence and Lonner (1971) use intensive case studies of 27 women and find partial evidence of unhappiness as these women are unprepared for life after children leave home.
