Academic Background
Suat Alper Orhan is a Research Associate and Postdoctoral Affiliate at Europa-Universität Flensburg. His doctoral research focuses on social democratic parties in Western Europe, particularly their positions on immigration and related policy-making processes, with an emphasis on internal party dynamics and the perceptions of political actors.
He completed his PhD at Europa-Universität Flensburg with a dissertation titled Intra-Party Dynamics of Social Democrats and Immigration: Dilemmas, Policy Shifts and Constraints. He also earned his Master’s degree in European Studies from the EUF, where his thesis examined radical right-wing parties in the United Kingdom and their economic and immigration policies. Before that, he graduated from Koç University in Istanbul with a degree in International Relations and Political Science.
His research interests include social democracy, political parties and political actors, and intra-party dynamics.
