St. Johannis Protestant Parish Hall In the book *Muscheln am Strand von Gaza* (Seashells on the Beach in Gaza), Hamza Howidy recounts his life story and his perspective on the conflict in Palestine. He grew up in the Gaza Strip and attended a strictly religious school. From an early age, he began to question the validity of the teachings he received and the way Hamas exercised power. After participating in protests, he was imprisoned and tortured. Fortunately, he managed to escape, a journey that eventually led him to Germany. He still lives here, though his residency status remains uncertain. Hamza Howidy is an important voice offering a firsthand account of life for Palestinians in Gaza and the brutality of the Hamas regime, while simultaneously challenging the common tendency to polarize the situation into a simple narrative of good versus evil.
