Dr. Max Nagel, welcome to the team!

In February a new team member is joining us at the Institute of Work and Economy of the University of Bremen – Dr. Max Nagel. He is a post-doctoral researcher in the project and will primarily concentrate on the case of Portugal.

Max Nagel received his PhD summa cum laude at the Faculty of Political and Social Sciences, Scuola Normale Superiore in Florence, Italy. In his PhD thesis he used both qualitative and quantitative methods to map and explain diverging monetary, financial, and foreign policies in Latin America and East Asia since the 1970s, including field work in Argentina, Chile, Japan, and South Korea. Previously he received a graduate degree in Economic and Financial Sociology from Goethe University Frankfurt (Germany) and an undergraduate degree in International Economics and Development from Bayreuth University (Germany). Additionally, Max Nagel was a visiting scholar at the Centre for European Studies and Comparative Politics at Sciences Po Paris (France), the Doctoral School of Political Science, Public Policy and International Relations of Central European University Budapest (Hungary) as well as the Political Science Department of the University of Pennsylvania (USA). Max Nagel was also a visiting student at the Lisbon School of Economics and Management (Portugal), Vienna University of Economics and Business (Austria), and Weber State University (USA)

His research interests revolve around international political economy, the politics of expert knowledge, international migration as well as institutional change.
