Who we are - The Institute of Educational Sciences

The Institute of Educational Sciences is made up of departments with different thematic focuses: Our team consists of eight professors and numerous research assistants, some who work primarily in teaching, and three secretaries.

The research profile of the Institute of Educational Sciences is broadly based: We deal with questions of education, upbringing and socialisation in their respective contexts, refer to school and extracurricular fields of action, research education with a focus on social heterogeneity, its development over the lifespan and its digitalisation or mediatisation. 

The Institute of Educational Sciences contributes to the education of future teachers and extracurricular educators. We are significantly involved in the school-related Bachelor's and Master's degree programmes by contributing the compulsory "Education, Upbringing, Society" sub-course; we are also responsible for the extracurricular Master's degree programme "Educational Science: Education in Europe".
