Field trip to Portugal

Dr. Max Nagel spent a month in Portugal to collect the data

For the whole month of June, Dr. Max Nagel conducted 17 interviews with policymakers and experts who have worked on emigration in Lisbon and the rural regions. These included representatives from the government, administration, parties, expert commissions, labor unions, business associations, and the church. With more than 20 percent of all Portuguese living abroad, the issue of emigration is pertinent.

The results from the interviews are currently analyzed and triangulated with findings from various types of documents. In a next step, the empirical evidence will be the basis of papers to be published.
