Beschreibung

Inspired through the reading of Walter Benjamin´s "Arcades Project" about Paris, and Alfred Kerr‘s Berlin diaries and letters, also guided by a growing literature about the "Creative City" in the social sciences, extensive field studies were started in Berlin, in October 2015. The driving motivation behind this endeavor is an educational one and hopes to collect ideas for the building of innovative learning cultures. Since the fall of the Berlin Wall, as well as during Imperial and Weimar Germany, the city has embraced a reputation as a creative, dynamic and glittering metropolis. Berlin is comparable with New York, London or Paris, cities that attract people from all over the world. These cities provide space for the development of identities and the creation of life styles. How do creativity and innovation manifest themselves on the social, cultural and economic level, in Berlin and its diverse quarters?
