Vita

From 2007 to 2011 Simon Hilpert studied Energy and Environmetal Management (Industrial Engineering) at the University of Applied Sciences in Flensburg. During his study he spent one semester abroad at the Universidade Nova de Lisboa in Portugal. He wrote his Bachelorthesis at the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems in Freiburg where he evaluated a new concept for the after-treatment of exhaust gas. From 2011 to 2013 he studied Systems Engineering at the University of Applied Sciences in Flensburg where he focused on energy systems modeling. In his masterthesis at the University of Flensburg he developed a simulationtool for combined heat an powerplants with energy storages using mixed integer linear programming.


From october 2013 to 2016 he worked at the University of Applied Sciences as an research assistant in the field of Energy and Environmental Management at the institute of Energy and Biotechnology. There he focused on modeling of energy systems with combined heat and powerplants in changing energy markets.

Since October 2016 he works in the energy system modelling and analysis group at the Europa Universität Flensburg. Simon Hilpert is one of the developers of the Open Energy Modelling Framework - oemof and of different applications based on the framework.
