Hanna Brauers ist seit April 2021 wissenschaftliche Mitarbeiterin an der Europa-Universität Flensburg. Sie hat ihre Promotion an der Technischen Universität Berlin (TU Berlin) im März 2021 eingereicht. Sie ist Gastwissenschaftlerin sowohl an der TU Berlin als auch am Deutschen Institut für Wirtschaftsforschung (DIW Berlin). Die  Wirtschaftsingenieurin mit dem Schwerpunkt Energie- und Ressourcenmanagement konzentriert ihre Forschung auf Kohle- und Erdgasmärkte. Sie kombiniert wirtschafts- und politikwissenschaftliche Ansätze, um die Einbeziehung von Stakeholder-Interessen, Macht und Ungleichheit sowie technologischen Zwängen zu ermöglichen. In ihrer Doktorarbeit analysiert sie die politische Ökonomie von Energietransformationen mit Fokus auf den Kohle- und Erdgasausstieg in verschiedenen Ländern.

Von 2014 bis 2017 war sie als studentische Hilfskraft für das Deutsche Institut für Wirtschaftsforschung tätig. In 2019 war sie zwei Monate Gastwissenschaftlerin an der Chalmers University in (Göteborg, Schweden) und in 2016 drei Monate bei BC3, dem baskischen Zentrum für Klimawandel (Bilbao, Spanien).

Im Rahmen ihrer Arbeit an der TU Berlin und dem DIW Berlin war Hanna Brauers an verschiedenen Projekten für das Bundesumweltministerium und das Umweltbundesamt zu Fragen der Ausgestaltung des deutschen Kohleausstiegs beteiligt. Sie lehrte an der TU Berlin zu Energie- und Ressourcenpolitik. Während ihres Studiums war Hanna Brauers Teil des Climate-KIC Master Label Programms des European Institute of Innovation and Technology und studierte ein ERASMUS Semester in Granada (Spanien).
