On June 30th, 2014 the University of Flensburg was officially proclaimed "Europa-Universität Flensburg". The title "European University" reflects both the specific location of the university in the German-Danish border region, as well as the University's aspiration to train and educate a generation, which understands, -lives- and actively develops Europe.
In accordance with its expertise, the main focus in the area of teacher training is on educational sciences. This focus is unique for a Europa-Universität. It offers the chance to communicate European ideas directly to the new generation, who can then spread these ideas further.
Europa-Universität Flensburg is continuing to pursue a long-term international orientation, currently cooperating with more than 80 partner universities in 34 countries.
