Our core areas of expertise include education, economics, humanities, and social sciences, with a focus on teacher education and international management. Currently there are ten institutes with departments and seminars. Since March 1, 2023, teaching, academics and research activities at EUF have been structured under three distinct faculties:
Signature research centers
Research at Europa-Universität Flensburg focuses on education, interdisciplinary European studies, and economic and environmental sciences with an emphasis on sustainable development and societal transformation. The university has two signature research centers, with a third currently under construction:
The interdisciplinary integrative Center for Research on Education, Teaching, Schooling and Socialization (ZeBUSS) primarily conducts research on education, teaching, and socialization in both traditional and non-traditional learning environments.
The Interdisciplinary Centre for European Studies (ICES) conducts research on European studies and related issues for science, politics, and civil society. This multidisciplinary institute in the social sciences and humanities offers a platform for innovative research on European history, culture, politics, society, and economics.
A center for the thematic area of transformation/sustainability, environment, and energy is currently in-process.
