Information for application

On this page you will find all information about the application and criteria. To apply for the program, you must first complete the online application form and upload the required documents.

Classes 2022

New round of courses begin July 2022!

5 courses are offered:

  •     English B1.2 (part time/12 lessons per week)
  •     English B2 (part time/12 lessons per week)    
  •     German B1.2 (part time/12 lessons per week)
  •     German B2 (part time/12 lessons per week)
  •     German C1 (full-time/24 lessons per week)

Programme duration: July to December 2022

Programme content: Language teaching and acquisition of key competences (e.g. intercultural competence, methodological competence)

Teaching format: Courses consist of a combination of online (2 days) and on-campus (3 days) attendance.

Admission requirements for all courses: Language level B1, university entrance qualification, refugee background and desire to study.


As of May 2022, our application portal is open, you can now apply via our online application form.

Who can apply for the programme?

You can apply for a place on the ProRef programme if you:

  •    have a refugee background
  •    have a university entrance qualification
  •    have at least B1-level language skills in German or English
  •    would like to take up a course of study at the end of the programme.

We aim for a balanced gender ratio in all language courses. Europa-Universität Flensburg particularly welcomes applications from qualified women.

To check whether your degree is recognized in Germany and whether you meet the admission requirements, you can use the DAAD admission database.

You will need one of the following residence statuses as proof:

  •     Proof of arrival
  •     Residence permit
  •     Toleration
  •     Residence permit

Diploma entitling the holder to study at a university in Germany (original or certified copy with translation into German or English by a sworn translator).

If available: Study certificates (BA or MA transcript or certificate in the original or certified copy with translation in German or English by a sworn translator).

Proven language skills at level B1 in German or English.

Missing language certificates

Take up a degree programme after the end of the programme:

Please inform yourself about the study programmes offered at the EUF.

Under certain conditions, there is also the possibility of taking up a doctorate.

How do I apply?

Applications are only possible via our  Online application form.  An German version of the form is also available. After successful submission, you will receive a confirmation email.

We would like to expressly point out that applications are only accepted via the online portal. Please do not send any application documents by e-mail.

Please note that this is not yet a commitment for the programme.

The ProRef programme is funded by the state of Schleswig-Holstein, the Federal Ministry of Education and Research and DAAD.


There are no costs for participants.

Relevant language certificates (German or English), educational certificates and proof of residence status.


Proof of residence status:

CampusFRIENDS (CF) is a buddy programme between participants of the ProRef programme and EUF students.
