This course is for students and employees at upper intermediate level who want to refresh their general language skills. The course is designed to further develop reading, listening, discussion and writing skills.
It focuses on:
- Developing fluency through speaking
- Building vocabulary (variety of lexis, use of collocations, spelling)
- Reviewing key grammar
- Practicing writing through various optional written assignments connected to lesson content
This course runs over one session of 180 minutes a week.
Listening, reading, writing and speaking are all elements of this course and regular participation from all partcipants is expected. Learners will sometimes work in groups, have to form arguments or opinions and present them to the others.
Participants develop and consolidate language skills and vocabulary needed in a range of study-related communicative standard situations. They simulate situations and activities they may be confronted with in a firm (practical period or internship) or at universities abroad.
Prerequisites: level B2 according to Placement Test; or a strong B1 level and min. 4 years of school English.
A final written examination completes the course (scheduled for the last week of the course).
Main topics of the course are related to Unit 1 to 5 from the course book. Unit 6 to 10 are covered in the B2.2 connecting course during the Summer Semester 2016.
